Practical tips for enjoyable days out with limited walking
Living in London when you are older and enjoying what it has to offer can actually work very well if you focus on comfortable, repeatable outings rather than exhausting days out. Central London offers excellent transport, plenty of indoor venues for bad weather, accessible attractions, and many places have seating, cafés, lifts and accessible toilets.
Our live-in carers know London well and are always happy to arrange outings with minimal walking and plenty of breaks. And, of course, with their constant help and support by your side.

Other places well worth visiting are Tate Britain and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Most museums are ideal for elderly people because they are free so you can visit repeatedly for short periods without tiring yourself out, but still get to see everything.
Thames Clippers provides one of the best low-effort activities in London with comfortable indoor seating and excellent views.
All boats are wheelchair accessible and use ramps for boarding. Almost all piers offer step-free access, and there are designated spaces on board for wheelchair users. However, note that there is no step-free access at Cadogan, London Bridge City or Wandsworth Riverside Quarter piers.
There are toilets on board all vessels but accessible toilets are not available on the Star, Storm and Sky Clipper boats.

Choose a matinee performance and book aisle seats for ease of access. Many theatres have excellent accessibility services if booked in advance. Taking a taxi to and from the theatre will make the whole trip much easier and more enjoyable.
Many churches and institutions offer free or inexpensive daytime concerts. One good example worth visiting is St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 4JJ.
