Elderly Care at Home

In the later stages of our lives, many of us will require care. Increasingly, more elderly people are choosing to receive care at home, allowing them to stay in familiar surroundings whilst still receiving the support they need.

What is elderly care at home?

What are the benefits of receiving elderly care at home?

Receiving elderly care at home has many benefits, and is the preferred option for those who need care support, but don’t want to go into a residential home. Some of the many benefits of at home care include:

    • More independence: Receiving care at home will ensure your loved one has the support they need, without having to change their routines. Our carers work with your family to create a care plan that works for your lifestyle.
    • One-to-one support: At home care will mean that your relative will always have a professional who is solely dedicated to their wellbeing and happiness.
    • Peace of mind: You can rest easy in the knowledge that your loved one is receiving the care and support they need.
    • Companionship: A dedicated carer also provides comfort and companionship, acting as a listening ear and a friend who is always there.

What types of elderly live-in care do we offer?

Live-in care for the elderly is available in a variety of formats. Personal care assists with daily activities like bathing and meal preparation, whilst specialist care provides medical assistance from trained professionals for a range of complex illnesses.

Respite care offers temporary relief for family carers, whilst palliative care prioritises comfort for those in their final stages.

You can also access rehabilitation care that supports recovery after surgery or illness.

Selecting the appropriate type depends on each person’s specific needs and circumstances.

Why might elderly care be required?

It can be hard to recognise when your loved one may need more support than you can offer. Every situation is unique, but if they’re experiencing any of the following it could be a a good time to consider elderly care:

    • If your relative struggles to complete daily tasks, such as cooking, washing, cleaning or going to the bathroom, without support
    • If your family member is struggling to meet medical needs, such as taking medications on time and attending appointments
    • If your relative feels isolated and lonely, or if your family is unable to frequently visit and provide the support needed.

At Ashridge Home Care, one of our care managers will work with you to design a care plan that meets all of your loved one’s needs. Hourly care could suit your family if they require care during a few core hours of the day, whilst live-in care can offer 24-hour care for round-the-clock support.

    Ashridge home care

Ashridge provided an emergency placement for me when I needed a live-in carer on 24hrs notice. This was a godsend to me as my mother had advanced Alzheimer’s and my Dad had been rushed into hospital. I really appreciated the professional approach from all the staff I dealt with and felt very supported. Ashridge found me a first class carer who was able to provide wonderful live-in care for both my parents allowing them to spend a few more months together in their home of 35 years. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ashridge and live-in care.
