Midge’s Story
One-to-one, personalised care
Midge is a lovely lady living in Buckinghamshire with Tom her son, a retired RAF officer and his wife Carol who works in the NHS Safeguarding department.
They decided that Midge should move in with them after she had a series of falls in her own home, she was getting in a muddle with her medication and started to neglect herself. It was clear that she needed around the clock supervision.
Since Midge moved in with her son she is enjoying good health and is being well looked after with her family around her. Tom and Carol have a busy and full life, they enjoy time out with friends and regular holidays. They had considered placing Midge in a care home for respite care while they were away on holiday but they were concerned that the upheaval of unfamiliar surroundings would be upsetting for her.
When they found out about live in home care as an alternative to residential care, particularly that the cost of live in care compared favourably to that of respite care in a home, they realised that it was the ideal solution. It allowed them to continue to enjoy life while having the peace of mind that Midge was well cared for in her own home.
Tom and Carol go on regular holidays and while they are away Ashridge Home Care have worked with the family to provide a fully managed live in care service. The carer provides all the care and assistance Midge needs, including preparing meals, housekeeping and very important companionship.
At Ashridge Home Care we understand how difficult it can be for families when a loved one is living with dementia. There are so many unanswered questions around this condition and it can be difficult to know where to turn for help and advice. We support many families across Buckinghamshire through their dementia journey and find ways to help them through what can sometimes be a challenging time.
I love that Anca is now Mum’s official make-up artist and hair stylist! Mum is looking so well and gets many compliments when they bump into acquaintances at the village shop; this is giving her a well needed boost at this time. And they are both enjoying art sessions, with Mum ‘helping’ Anca produce some amazing pictures.
My father is 100 yrs old this week and requires a full care service 24 hours a day , Betty provides this with a smile on her face always and with a professionalism and patience that is a credit to both her and you as the providing company .
Ashridge provided an emergency placement for me when I needed a live-in carer on 24hrs notice. This was a godsend to me as my mother had advanced Alzheimer’s and my Dad had been rushed into hospital. I really appreciated the professional approach from all the staff I dealt with and felt very supported.
We’re delighted with Lucy!! She is brilliant and lovely with my dad and they’ve bonded really well. It’s obviously a huge relief and thanks to you, Sarah and the team for finding ANOTHER great carer so well suited for my dad.

My father is 100 yrs old this week and requires a full care service 24 hours a day , Betty provides this with a smile on her face always and with a professionalism and patience that is a credit to both her and you as the providing company . It is not easy coping with my fathers requirements , which can be onerous at times especially at night but Betty always seems to have the right attitude to any problem and has obviously formed a great understanding of how to handle any situation or challenge she is confronted with. We think Betty is a pretty special human being and that we are very lucky to have her looking after our father at this time in his life.
Ashridge Home Care has given my mum excellent care at all different stages of her illness from being bedridden to post-op; rehabilitating her so she was able to regain independence and confidence again in her own home. Continuity, professionalism, compassion and empathy gave her a reason to get up in the morning. Mum is 91-years-old, thank you Ashridge.
We were very impressed by the care provided by Ashridge Home Care Ltd. We had a full and comprehensive home assessment which made us feel reassured that my Mum in Law would receive the best possible care and so it proved.
The carer arrived every day to make sure Mum was safe and happy, to prepare lunch and spend quality time chatting and being pleasant company for her. When my daughter visited later on in the day Mum would tell her what a lovely lady her carer was. We highly recommend Ashridge Home Care knowing that we left Mum in such safe and caring hands.
From initially speaking to this company about the possibility of them supplying a carer for my elderly partner I had total confidence that all would be well due to the professional approach and the way they listened to our requirements and acted on them. The carer they provided was incredibly good – caring, professional and full of empathy – I could not recommend them highly enough.
