Wear It Pink Day, organised by Breast Cancer Now, is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. It falls in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and since it was first launched in 2002 the campaign has raised over £30 million for life saving research.
Affecting 1 in 8 women in the UK, Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. It can be both a debilitating and isolating illness and we want to help with making sufferers feel less alone.
On 31st October 2018, Ashridge Home Care is organising our own Wear It Pink Day as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our team and our carers will be joining thousands of other people who will be wearing pink in their communities, schools and workplaces throughout the month, to help to raise awareness for Breast Cancer.
We’re asking our carers to send us selfies to document their pink outfits and for every carer selfie we receive, we’ll be donating £10 to wearitpink.org. Wear It Pink encourage people to wear a pink outfit, item of clothing or fun accessory as part of fundraising days, to raise money to aid their life-changing research.
As well as the donations, there will also be a prize for the best pink selfie we receive. We’ll be posting some of our favourite selfies here on our blog too!
Breast Cancer Now say of their wear it pink campaign, “With every bit of pink we wear, every pink party game we play, every pink cake we bake and every pink bucket we shake, we’re making a positive future possible.”
To keep making discoveries, Breast Cancer Now needs to invest at least £300 million in research over the next 10 years. The Wear It Pink Campaign helps to fund lifechanging research so that we can help to put a stop to Breast Cancer.
