Join us on Saturday 3rd September by taking part in Watford Memory Walk 2022

Watford Memory Walk 2022 - Ashridge Home Care

Hertfordshire residents are being encouraged to join in and unite against dementia at the upcoming Alzheimer’s Society’s Watford Memory Walk.

The event will take place at 10am on 3rd September 2022.

Whether you walk in memory of a loved one or because you want to light the way to a brighter future, we’d love you to join us because together we will beat dementia.

Memory Walks are so important because it gives people an opportunity to honour loved ones who are living with dementia or remember those who have passed away from the condition. We’re so proud to join this important event, as we have many clients who are affected by Alzheimer’s, and their family members are affected too.

We want to show that Ashridge Home Care have an understanding of what it’s like living with Alzheimer’s and show support for individuals and their families, friends and all our wonderful carers supporting them.

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia in the UK. It can affect memory and other mental abilities and can cause significant stress. In the UK, there are currently 850,000 people suffering with Alzheimer’s and this number is due to rise to 1 million by 2025. The Alzheimer’s Society suggest that currently, 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have dementia.

Too many people in Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties (Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and London) are facing dementia alone without adequate support. We urgently need to find a cure, improve care and offer help and understanding for people affected.

When you cross the finish line, celebrate with your medal, knowing you have walked to give anyone affected by dementia the support they deserve. Registration closes 31 August at 4pm.

Whether you walk 10,000 steps, 10 miles or for 10 minutes, get ready to make it your walk, your way. You can choose to walk on your own, with clients, friends or family or even your four-legged friends. Supporters can also walk on pavements, paths, parks, or pebbles in a location of their choice throughout September.

See our JustGiving page and support us.

With every pound you donate, you are helping Alzheimer’s Research  get one step closer to a world without dementia. Your fundraising will help fund new research and provide support to more people affected by dementia, wherever they are, whatever they are going through.

Thank you to everyone who signed up for the Memory Walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. It’s a brilliant way to make a real difference for people affected by dementia.

Any proceeds made from the event will go towards The Alzheimer’s Society and the amazing work that they do, so as well as being a fun social activity, the Memory Walk is a chance to help to raise awareness and profits for a good cause.

As a specialist dementia care provider, we certainly understand how people with dementia feel –often misunderstood, marginalised and isolated. And that means that they’re less likely to be able to live independently in their own communities. We are proud to provide Free Dementia Friendly Sessions to our local communities with a goal to improve the understanding of dementia and so reduce stigma.
