Shortened care visits putting elderly and vulnerable at risk.

No one would want a short and rushed care visit for a loved one.

Home care visits should be long enough to ensure that the person’s identified outcomes can be achieved. There is a risk that visits of less than 30 minutes will be rushed and not meet the person’s needs, and could compromise safety and dignity.

Sadly the rise in short care visits is symptomatic of a social care and health system that continues to be chronically underfunded. Adult social care funding is in crisis and it is vital for our elderly population that government urgently addresses this..

Rushed visits deprive vulnerable people of human contact, and in some cases leave them forced to choose between help washing or dressing.
Cllr David Sparks, Chair of the Local Government Association.

When you arrange visiting hourly care with Ashridge Home Care, we will begin with a minimum of a two hour visit. We find that a two hour visit allows your carer time to get to know you, not to rush and give you all the attention and support you require.
