Our Community Session for Dementia Friends
On Wednesday 18th April 2018, Ashridge Home Care held a Dementia Friends community session in Speen, Buckinghamshire.
The event aimed to provide the community with an opportunity to come together to learn about dementia and to discuss what support and information they can gain, when being faced with a potentially frightening and worrying diagnosis.
Alongside an abundance of cakes, the event was well attended, with over 20+ participants coming together to discuss the impact that a dementia diagnosis can have on a family, and some of the support that is out there.
Sally Blackden, an expert in the field of dementia, spoke at the event delivering a 2-hour session about dementia, with opportunities for the participants to guide discussion and what they wanted from the day.
Trudi Scrivener from Ashridge Home Care was on hand to also communicate what support was available to families, from funding to care options.
We received excellent feedback from the participants and hope to continue to host this event next year.
If your community would like Ashridge Home Care to arrange and deliver a free dementia friends event then please get in touch we would be delighted to support raising awareness in your local area.
