A wonderful Silver Sunday to remember at the Princes Centre. – Princes Risborough
The Princes Centre, a community-run day care centre based in Princes Risborough and live-in home care provider Ashridge Home Care recently hosted a ‘Silver Sunday’ event here in support of the Silver Sunday National Charity, and to raise awareness of the two organisations. Tea and a lovely assortment of cakes were available and the participants enjoyed socialising with others instead of spending Sunday afternoon in their own company.
We’ve had a wonderful day at The Princes Centre celebrating Silver Sunday in style. So many lovely visitors enjoying delicious cake provided by volunteers and conversation provided by each other.
“Silver Sunday is a day that offers us all the opportunity to focus on older people’s contributions to our communities and to our society. Different generations gather together across the UK to celebrate their elders and to make new friends, through a variety of fun, free activities that range from tea parties to curling to Zumba dancing. As a member of Silver Sunday’s target audience, I can honestly say that it is a completely brilliant initiative.” Her Majesty The Queen Consort – Silver Sunday supporter
Silver Sunday also provides an opportunity for local authorities, charities, community groups and private, voluntary and public organisations to promote what they already do to relieve social isolation and loneliness among older people. In 2022 there were more than 1,000 events for older people across the UK, organised by wonderful local groups, businesses and volunteers.
